Leading the Way: Women Indigenizing Institutions

Join the Chicago-based Center for Native Futures (CfNF) and EXPO Chicago for an in-depth discussion on the cross-cultural perspectives of four Indigenous women artists and curators from the US and Canada. CfNF co-founder and artist Debra Yepa-Pappan is in conversation with Heather Igloliorte (Co-Director, Initiative for Indigenous Futures), Anya Montiel (Curator of American and Native American Women’s Art and Craft, National Museum of the American Indian), and Julia Lafreniere (Manager of Indigenous Initiatives, Winnipeg Art Gallery). Their deconstruction and decolonization practices within Eurocentric institutions are helping to reframe the Indigenous experience and advance the agency of creatives by building organizations for their respective Native communities.
