Push Pull: A Live Performance by The Seldoms in collaboration with Faheem Majeed

Hyde Park Art Center
5020 South Cornell Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60615

Sold out

Join the Hyde Park Art Center for a live, in-person performance of Push Pull, created in conjunction with Planting and Maintaining a Perennial Garden: Shroud, an exhibition in which artist Faheem Majeed investigates culturally specific institutions by focusing on the history and memory of the historic South Side Community Art Center. In Push Pull, dancer Damon Green of The Seldoms activates a charcoal rubbing of the Bronzeville landmark, created by Majeed as part of the exhibition. In the performance, Green unfurls, bundles, and carries the full weight of a living historic institution, embodied in the 34 x 42-foot graphite rubbing on muslin.

A question and answer session follows the performance.
