Call and Response: Lawrence Steger's Archives and Lasting Legacy

Presented by Chicago Collections Consortium in partnership with Gallery 400, this program explores the work of performance artist Lawrence Steger, who was described by the Chicago Tribune as “one of the most important and most influential performance artists in Chicago during the late 1980s and ‘90s.” This event is held in conjunction with Gallery 400’s current exhibition Reckless Rolodex, continuing through March 18, which highlights Steger’s legacy by showing works by contemporary artists responding to his research practice and body of work. Join the discussion with the exhibition’s co-curator Matthew Goulish and participating artists Max Guy, Mark Jeffery, Devin T. Mays, John Neff, and Cherrie Yu as they share how Steger has influenced their work.
